Ways to Increase Commitment and Patience

We have all had to deal with challenges we have not encountered in the past in recent times. A kind of black swan that has attacked us over the last year and a half. As I see it, we jumped from event to event at a never ending pace and as a result, most of us found ourselves shutting ourselves in homes and working from home.

When we are part of an organization/society /community we cultivate a common relationship and paradigm. Some of us even managed to do this with great success during the Coronavirus pandemic. We maintained a long-distance relationship through online communication which managed to hold and strengthen the sense of commitment and belonging. If we are independent it is this ability to lift ourselves up and move forward.

Doing encourages further doing and thus getting back to business soon. But when everything around us collapses, maybe even in our area, how can we manage to do that? There is an old saying that believes that once we adopt the audacity and strategy as individuals, self-employed, employees, managers and staffs so we can adapt to the new era.

Paolo Caulo wrote in his book 'Alef' "...will and courage are two different things. Courage can attract fear and flattery, but willpower needs patience and commitment." After interviewing a respectable number of experts for the book I am working on these days openness in strategy, I have come to the conclusion that what these successful business people and business owners have in common is the commitment and patience they have devoted to their goals and objectives along the way.

Determination is key to developing charismatic leadership. By the way if you notice, most of us are attracted to successful people. We follow and watch the successes of role models for us and we even recreate the steps they took. In any organization/society/community of which we are a part of, we can identify with most leaders that think outside the box and maximize their results. Those who are afraid to make decisions and/or delay processes may find themselves finishing last and the most disappointing part for me is the inability to see the opportunities (sometimes they are right under our noses).

Ways to increase a sense of patience and commitment:

  1. Do not forget the purpose and goal - a large part of it stems from our ability to believe in ourselves. In our way.
  2. Do a little every day - this is how you move the wheels and enter the circle of doing. Doing brings doing.
  3. Define monthly, weekly and daily tasks - for me it works best that I combine the digital schedule on my smartphone with a manual schedule as well.
  4. Law of Three - helps us prevent over-dispersion during our work. It leaves us committed to the goal and thus we continue to produce the exact path for us. The law of three is also, three sides (passive, active and mental) which unites our overall doing and sheds light on the situation.
  5. Share with colleagues/friends/close family who can support you when needed. A heartfelt conversation with a close environment about the situation you are in can help dispel the feeling of frustration and also this is quite an opportunity to recalculate a route. I always tell my clients that it's okay to feel a "tremors in the body" feeling it means we are still inaccurate. The body feels and shows us this, all we have to do is listen to ourselves.
  6. One of the recommended ways to increase a sense of commitment is to staff a new skill which calls for the bottleneck I wrote about. Personal development / professional development is something worth thinking about.
  7. For those of us who work in organizations / companies / staff teams it is worth working with a teamwork mindset, it increases the sense of belonging to the organization and raises motivation. Working together has both personal and business mutual fertilization. Worth working among colleagues and friends on "sucky" days (we all have them.)

At the end of the day, what we want to feel is self-fulfillment. Much of this has to do with our willpower, perseverance, patience and commitment to the goals and objectives we have set for ourselves in life. A sense of independence is necessary for development and is designed to enable us to explore the world. Discover it slowly. If you feel a sense of discomfort that has accompanied your day for several days then it is time to do something about it. Another second of prolonged sitting in the same place where you are may lead to a miss of opportunities and a feeling of missing out. We do not really want to live our lives like this, the way to do it is simply to do.
