The Concept of Time in the Business World

Do you know that feeling when time feels as if it is running out? You're trying to figure out where your time has gone, how suddenly you're looking at the clock and 'poof', from 12:00 you are already at 16:00. Have you ever tried to understand why this is happening to you? This second where you’re trying to be present in the moment, but time just seems to be slipping away. If you’re time passes relatively pleasantly, chances are you are not looking at the clock and counting the minutes pass by.

So now I want to ask you, if you had four extra hours a day, what would you like to do? How would you fill this time? I want you to ask yourself the most important question - Where do I feel as if I am losing myself within the concept of 'time'? If you're wondering what that means, I can explain it from my point of view. For me to lose time, is to feel that I am in the here and now of my life. In fact, it means that I deal less (if at all) with the phone, I listen and look  at who is standing in front of me, I ask questions , I am interested and engaged. I am completely preoccupied with my here and now and my thoughts are focused only on one thing.

Try to recall such moments. When you are at home, what do you do? Who are you talking to? Are you preparing to eat? Reading a book? watching TV? Or for example you are at work, and you have a lot of tasks to do but you start to disperse a bit, you got involved in something else? Did you talk to a friend in the office? And most importantly - was it all productive, that is, did it promote you and if so, to what extent did you feel it promoted you? You have four hours that have disappeared from your life without you noticing.

Now I want to introduce you to the three types of scheduling, I heard it in a lecture by Alon Shachak and in my opinion he defined it superbly with some updates I put in, and on it we will unveil the topic, let's start...

Types of time planning:

  • Timing is everything - I always say that timing is everything. Sometimes we are in the right place at the right time and that is where all the magic happens. The idea of the sentence is to understand that sometimes we have to wait for the right time - to respond, to voice, to hear, to receive, to contain, to give. For all these and more, there is the right time and the right place. Our job  is to understand when the level of accuracy is perfect , so that this moment will make us feel, quite physically, the meaning of accuracy at that point in time.
  • Proportional thinking of seconds and minutes - there are certain moments that we feel we experience a slight disconnection from reality, that is, feel like watching our own life. It's a level of seconds, a hundredth of a second where we feel like we're looking at our lives from our point of view. I know that what I am saying may sound strange to some of you, but think about it for a moment, at the times you stood and just watched what was happening around you.
  • Live certain moments without a schedule - within every meticulous and precise schedule there are "quiet moments" (that's what I call it). In those moments I choose to live life without a schedule. In this time, I discover for myself that I can rest, breathe for a moment, zoom out of my reality into my silence with my innerself. Believe me it is not always easy for me to behave like this without a schedule but someone very wise once told me "that I should know how to live life less meticulously because if God forbid something does not work out within my perfect schedule, I may collapse". There is something in his words.

Oprah Winfrey my favorite, says "Live the days day by dayOur goal is to live our lives to its full potential, do what we love and strive to do, evolve, deepen ourselves and most importantly refine ourselves over the years. So after all said and done let's dive a second into how to manage a customized schedule:

The first thing I recommend doing is a to-do list. Let's explain the logic and what it means, I know everyone says "to-do list to-do list" but the meaning here is deeper than that, is to actually put my thoughts in order, and how do you do that? There are all kinds of creative ways such as: open a WhatsApp group with yourself and write things down there so you won’t forget, hang a magnetic task sheet on the fridge and put a pencil beside it (do not forget the pen, it is the most important, it is the motivation for your action), prepare tasks for the next day, important things you want to complete, put alerts on the phone about things you do not want to forget .

Second thing is to break down your tasks - go down to micro-level resolutions, within your tasks (especially your big tasks), try to break them down and be as specific and precise as possible about what needs to be done within the same task, also think to yourself how much each task requires and how much time you give to a specific task.

Third thing is to delegate powers, that is, outsource to the people you trust, work with, take a second off the highway, and I know it's really hard to do and easy to say, but I suggest you look at it from a different perspective. Think you want to develop some kind of software or product, you have the ability to learn to do it yourself, but, the time you invest in it and the energy you spend can be priceless and a pity. Think about it that if you were to pass on the same product characterization to the person you were looking for and testing and even getting recommendations from friends that could work if that person, you would have already passed on your idea to him and let him do that thing for you. What a freeing feeling. Think about how relevant that person has become to you and how much time you have saved.

Fourth, prioritize  - you can take many pages to write on and it is not matter the amount or size, depending on how many tasks you have to write and how specific you are, write in the title of each page:

title
What to do, how to behave?
Urgent and important
Take care of it - now, right away. Do not postpone. Understand what the task requires of you and get going.
Urgent and unimportant
Postpone it to another more convenient time when you will have time to devote to the task at hand
Not important and not urgent
Delete from the list because it does not promote you and can also delay you in progress
Important and not urgent
Not critical, one can move on to the next task and return to it later or at another time that is more appropriate for the task at hand

Fifth step, set a "deadline" for your tasks, assign them for a certain time, stick to it and don’t forget to include rest and pampering within this time as well. Remember that people can crash from over missions and this can disable a person. I speak from personal experience, there were several times I let my tasks and schedule manage me and I managed to "pity myself" in my overall health. From experience I can tell you that you will learn to unite with the right and accurate tools for yourself, it is a process, it will take some time, maybe months, years but eventually you will learn to be more precise so the time you devote to everything will be more and more accurate.

What to do in situations that fail to be accurate and you feel like you're getting lost?

The answer to this is simple, every time you experience a state of "doom" (let's call the child by his name), all you have to do is go back to your task log and remember where you are and where you are going. Once you arrange your time in a way that is customized for you that reflects the reality of your life. You will feel and truly experience that you are more organized with your time and your head will also reach a state that has room to contain new content that comes into your life.

Sixth step, you will learn to say "noabout certain things, that is, say that a new customer comes to you who wants to hire your service, do you have time to take care of it?. In my experience, I always go to get a service from a service provider, one of the questions I ask already at the beginning even before I have clarified this price is do you have time to deal with this project? Why do I do this? - Because that way I know how to get from the same service provider a time frame and then I can plan my time in a much more correct way that will also lead me to a situation where I progress in my doing and do not stop, so called - "give full speed on neutral".

Seventh step, remember that you can always change your plans, even if, after writing assignments, setting goals and objectives, you started performing and let's say everything is by the book and something suddenly arises and does not work out, a little annoying bump in the road, always remember that you can change plans. Or at least rearrange them to match what you feel and what you think. Whatever you choose, just remember to do it calmly, as subtle as possible not to shake your world. I see how in my life that time is more important than money, which means that I invest time in everything down to the smallest details, this is what brings me 'money', or as people like to call it - abundance of consciousness.

Remember that your awareness is the main thing and it leads your way, once you know where you are headed you will automatically know how to manage your time correctly and most importantly, do it in a way that is tailored for you, because you will build this plan. Tasks that you did not complete, remember that you can always postpone to another day.

It is possible to work with colors into categories, for example I have categories divided by colors in my personal schedule on my phone. The colors affect my subconscious and cause me to automatically associate the colors with certain tasks or issues and that leaves my mind active. You can write tasks according to periods in life, for example, there are tasks that are suitable for now and there are tasks that you can write their characterization or alternatively create some "breakdown" of the task. The idea is to postpone it to a more convenient time period. Don’t leave your idea in some drawer for it to be forgotten. Remember that even within all our busy and crowded schedules one has to be flexible in making decisions. Sometimes things will not be the way we want (what a shock!). Annoyed about it, today I accept it with love and am grateful for the time I have to engage in other things, which advances me more at this point in time, it does not mean I will not return to the same task, it just means I put it down and released it right now with lots of love, and yet I’m making room for something more right for me right now.
